Up to half of Prague’s hotels could close due to COVID-19

As many as 47 per cent of Prague hotels could close by the end of the year, the president of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of the Czech Republic, Václav Stárek, has warned.

In the rest of the country, closure could hit 30% of the hotels.

In the second quarter of the year during the first wave of Covid, Czech hotels faced a decrease of 96.2% of foreign accommodation. On the other hand, and despite governmental initiative, Czechs spent fewer nights in local hotels.
